Vintage Life Hacks That Are Still Useful Today
In the 1880s cigarette companies started putting cards into paper packs of cigarettes to strengthen the container and protect the smokes. It wasn’t long unto they got the idea to start putting trivia, artwork or even pretty girls on the cards to help with marketing. In the 1910s, Gallaher LTD of Belfast & London and Ogden’s Branch of the Imperial Tobacco Co printed the first series of “How-To” (or as we call them “life hack”) style cards with clever tips and tricks for everyday problems. From steaming out a splinter to recorking a bottle, these cigarette cards told you the smart way to handle many of life’s problems.
