A Casual Conversation With Actor Rex Linn

Rex Linn CSI:MIAMIAs a special treat for the release of Zombeavers, I had a chance to sit down and speak with actor Rex Linn who plays the role of ‘Smyth’ in the movie. This was a hard interview since Rex Linn is such an incredible actor and a veteran in the industry. What do you say to someone like this? How do you even approach him with your stupid questions? Well, as it turns out, he’s just a really great guy and very easy to talk to.

The ‘interview’ quickly turned into a casual conversation after about the first five minutes of speaking with him. Learning about his history and how he got to Hollywood was a great treat.

A young Rex Linn grew up in Texas and always had a love for movies. He recalls seeing an afternoon showing of ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ and being inspired. He walked out of the theater, called his mom to tell her he wouldn’t be home for supper that night, and saw the movie again. He had always wanted to be an actor since the age of five, but that movie ignited a spark in him to pursue that dream.

Congratulations to John from Tampa for finding the Zombeaver! He was hiding in the post for American Pincher. Interesting side note, we didn’t know when we originally posted the video that one of the characters was Peter Gilroy who played Buck in Zombeavers. Zombeavers – Movie Review

zombeavers_posterWe first learned of Zombeavers last year when the now viral trailer dropped. At the time, there was still speculation on whether or not the movie was real or if it were just a clever short. As we learned that the movie was, in fact, the real deal, our excitement grew. Of course, we are big fans of beavers and they’ve unfortunately been extremely underrepresented in film. Other than our brief appearance in “The Worst Year of My Life“, when was the last time you saw a beaver play a prominent role in a movie? And Mel Gibson’s puppet show doesn’t count!

The trailer was such a tease for us. Zombies are awesome, beavers are even better, but combining the two into evil, undead, killing machines? BRILLIANT! Will this be the movie that finally gives beavers the street cred they deserve? Probably not, but it may make people realize what awesome creatures they truly are.

With the continued success of the “Sharknado” series and now with the release of “Zombeavers”, we’ll hopefully start seeing a resurgence of the campy style horror/comedy movies. As an 80s kid that grew up sneakily watching Troma movies, “Zombeavers” was a bit of a throw back. “Toxic Avenger”, “Killer Tomatoes”, “Eat and Run” (haha, she gave the alien Herpes!), “Class of Nuke ‘Em High”, the list goes on and on. All were great classic movies from this genre. Hopefully “Zombeavers” will earn a spot on the mantle next to them.

Deputy Beautifully Breaks Up A Beach Fight

It’s Spring Break time all across the country so that means tons of drunken college kids heading out in the sun. And when you get a bunch of college kids together and add enough alcohol, there’s bound to be a fight. A fun day on St Petersburg Beach turned rowdy when a bunch of bros got into a punch-a-thon. Then comes deputy high tower from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department to try and calm things down. Bros being the bros that they are, of course they act like douche nozzles which leads the deputy to be more stern, with a sweet take down of bro #1. Bro #2 gets all upset because his boyfriend was being manhandled so he keeps harassing the officer which leads to not only another great take down, but a beautiful choke hold.

That Deputy deserves a medal, not only for teaching these douchebags a lesson, but for taking them down without shooting them like some other departments would…

As an added bonus, there’s drone footage of it! With some pretty relaxing music too

Have fun on Spring Break Beavers, but try not to act like a douche 😉
